We should stick with coal because "CO2-warming" has always, from the get-go, been extreme-left propaganda.
Here's the basic physics people should know on CO2 and the "catastrophic man-made global warming" narrative.
CO2 absorbs outgoing longwave infrared radiation (heat) as photons at 14.8 microns wavelength (Planck’s Law).
The temperature of absorption at 14.8 microns is -80 degrees Celsius (Wien’s Displacement Law), which is found in the lower stratosphere, well above the troposphere where weather exists.
Minus 80 degrees Celsius is 95 degrees lower than average surface temperature.
The Second Law of Thermodynamics proves heat doesn’t flow from cold zones to hotter zones.
CO2 cannot “trap heat.” It can only delay outgoing heat momentarily so high up in the atmosphere it’s irrelevant.
Atmospheric CO2 is contingent upon seawater temperature (Henry’s Law).
Only the sun has the energy to heat 1.335 billion cubic kilometres of water.
To control Earth’s climate, you must control the sun.
The “climate debate” is now and always has been political and anti-scientific.
Thank you. There was a peer reviewed study: three plants all the same. The plants with an additional dose of CO2 grew taller than the plant with none. In other words plants LOVE CO2.
There are only trade-offs in energy policy. Coal is abundant, easy to store and relatively cheap but it usually contains 1.3 ppm of uranium and 3.4 ppm of thorium (not to mention arsenic, mercury, ash, particulate and sulfur). When coal burns, these isotopes are emitted into the atmosphere, where they enter our ecosystem. This leads to the astounding fact that the population effective dose equivalent from coal plants is 100 times that from nuclear plants. Scrubbers on coal plants only remove the sulfur as far as I know. I didn't mention CO2 because it isn't a pollutant.
Also the energy density of uranium is extraordinary, with current US reactors operating at 95% capacity factor. Coal is 48% and gas is 57% in comparison (US DOE). In 70 years of nuclear reactor use there have been zero injuries or deaths from spent nuclear fuel as well. The stuff is potential fuel for future generations when breeder reactors become more economical. Parasitical solar and wind factories have no place on a powerhouse grid of nuclear, gas, some coal and hydro. Roof-top solar and batteries are fine for those who can afford that and want the independence.
We currently have the worst government in living memory. They are destroying this country and hurting the people. They need a wake up call. Australia needs nuclear power. That is a definite no brainer.
Can't agree. Australia's economy recovered after 1975 in a few years. The damage inflicted by the socialists this time will take a generation to repair. And this time, the assault of traditional Aussie values has been much worse. Whatever their huge faults this is the first government to ever say a woman can have a penis, and that the Aussie flag is a hate symbol!
Well yes Edward, the economy recovered because there was a massive input of confidence and investment after Whitlam was given the proverbial boot... at the election newly awakened voters (since returned to slumber) handed the baton to a new broom - which swept in (and very soon swept out, but that's another story).
But let's not quibble; Comrade Whitlam & the present mob were & are both awful.
As for this lot the first suggesting that women can have appendages, you're right. Remember TV ads for BHP - 'The Quiet Achiever'? This government should advertise themselves as 'The Quiet Destroyer'. Of Australia.
And speaking of appendages, it reminds me, painfully, of many years ago in a Cape Town night club where I met this stunning woman who, despite there being many eligible men in the room, seemed to like young & innocent me, and..... well, let's just say the night did not end well..
I still get flash-backs & nausea, all these years later.
One big difference though is Whitlam was able to be sacked, so he never reached the end of his term. Since his sacking, law was introduced to stop any future PM or State Premier from the same fate by allowing both of them to pick who becomes the Governor General, hence why they pick people who will never cross them. So in a sence, our government corruption started way back then.
Still have vivid memories of Chernobyl as per docos done years after. Nuclear is not the answer IMO. It is dangerous and when it fails the result is catastrophic. No Nuclear plant is fail safe even in this day and age. We saw this at Fukusima.
The Chinese are now building clean coal power stations. Even if Australia gave the Chinese the job of building them in Australia next to the existing ones, or suitable sites, and using the existing grid we would be way in front. Chinese are using profits off selling us wind and solar to pay for theirs. Win win for China
Most of Australia's electricity grid is owned by the Chinese, along with Canada and a few others. AGL and Momentum energy are about the only fully Australian owned companies left.
This is a disgrace. All our infrastructure should be wholly Australian owned. Successive governments in this country have gutted it. We keep selling our resources and infrastructure to foreign countries - what madness this is. I do not understand their thinking, to me it is most illogical indeed. Sick and tired of paying through taxation their madness which is sending Australia down the gurgler.
Yeah it should be, but governments over the decades have become more and more greedy for money. Eventually they're going to run out of things to sell which will be catastrophic for Australia.
Why is anything that would be obvious to a 10 year old, not understood by our current Government. They ignore solutions to our power issues, yet at the same time accept that people can change their sex on a whim. Biggest question however, is who keeps voting them in
Not me. I haven't voted any of these bastards in for a very long time. About time we had someone or some people with real solutions and sense. Go Senator Babit.
A bit of a long reply... To give you an idea, the generation born around the 1930's were all Labor supporters just after WWII. Most of their kids generation followed suit to Labor. Then their kids become Teals and Greens supporters due to being brainwashed into thinking the world's going to end before their kids hit 50yrs old. And when they vote it's Greens etc and their preference goes to Labor. Then over a long period of time Labor have been importing immigrants for votes from extremely left leaning countries. Since 2023, the1.5 million immigrants that were granted permanent residency, 80% of them voted for Labor or the greens. That included some from African countries, India, China and a few other countries.
A society approaching collapse, as we are, should not be contemplating nuclear plants that require multi-generational maintenance. You cannot just walk away from a nuclear plant or big problems arise.
We have a superabundance of coal and burning it does not affect the climate because CO2 cannot "trap heat". You can walk away from a coal plant and it simply goes out when it runs out of fuel with no harm done.
Nuclear is just another distraction squirrel to divert us long enough for our grid to collapse and for the 28 million Aussies who rely on it to die.
Liebor, to me, appears to be rushing through all this renewable BS so that in three years time when there's another election, it might be too late for a future government to reverse what they've done due to there being too much infrastructure been built along with foreign ownership. This is truly scary. All these billions of dollars already spent. Would a future government spend all those billions of dollars a second time over only for Liebor to get re-elected sometime in the future and repeat their BS once again? And unfortunately there would never be an uprising in Australia. One: We have no way to defend ourselves and two: There's too many migrants that wouldn't even consider joining in a peaceful protest, let alone anything like an uprising.
We need to be told who is benefitting from running down the road to "green" energy. Follow the money trail which would be most revealing I'm sure. Well, at a glance we know that China is benefitting from the scam as they are making the solar panels and windmills to plant all over the place. Funny how the "greens" who are so keen on environment and little biddy animals but don't give a chuck when animals are displaced in the places wind farms are erected. Seems to me that hypocrisy rules the days and those freaks are getting away with it. How much blame can we attribute to the lame stream media by not informing folks what's really going on. Lies, corruption doth reign supreme...
All these so-called green energy wind mills and solar panels built in China are causing so much pollution that the locals can no longer fish or farm in those areas. China creates a lot of pollution. So the so-called environment renewables create more pollution than coal and gas etc. while they are being built. I don't see how planting these things all over the country side is environmentally friendly one wit.
It definitely is not, Jan. You can't attempt to solve one problem by creating an even bigger one. Right now, old growth forests are being ripped up, wildlife habitat decimated, and arable farming land (lots) is being destroyed for the sake of the pursuit of this green energy BS and net zero agenda. This is, in addition to the debilitating health affects on human populations who live near these windmill monstrosities and the pollution from these renewables once they reach their use by dates. Where do people think, all the toxic elements of solar panels, windmills and batteries are going to go once they have been decommissioned and dumped? They leach into the ground and find their way into the water table.
IMO it is now verging onto 'criminal' as to what is being done to accommodate the climate lunnies.
I had the misfortune of watching Al Gore's Opus - An unconvenient Truth, which started all this Climate fear mongering. What a delusional, boring piece of blatant Lies.
Thanks Jan for bringing this to our notice. I had no idea this was happening in China. China is a totalitarian society in which the people are closely watched and any dissent is stomped on quickly. The Chinese people are brow beaten into submission. One day they may rise up in mass against their oppressors and seek freedom and true liberty. May that day come sooner than later. Indeed, the whole world is heading in the direction of totalitarianism. The future for our children and their children could be bleak indeed.
Labor is not only detached from reality, but also from the financial core of its own energy transition. The government locks into long-term renewable commitments while superannuation funds, which hold over AUD 3.5 trillion, are already reallocating capital back into fossil fuel companies. These same funds still declare “net zero by 2050” on paper, yet their actual exposure to fossil expansion doubled from AUD 19 b to AUD 39 b between 2021 and 2024
Conveniently not reported anywhere by our MSM Dimitri.......how unsurprising. The majority of those funds would be Union Industry funds I believe.......hypocrisy much ???
Without electricity, the deep state has no power over us - no computers means no DI, no online to censor, no control over our finances, lives etc. Their 'greed energy' is not sustainable on any level - not even for them. It's time to ditch the UN (their weapon of choice to keep us under control) and get our country back. Keep going, Senator...
I have noticed, even the normally pro labor media are starting to call it as it is. Surely, you and the opposition, can call a vote of no confidence and get these monkeys out of power?
As president Trump said, the climate change agenda is a great hoax, the climate goes up and down in cycles since the beginning of time and will continue that way. According to ice drilling scientists, core samples taken in Greenland were 2 degrees warmer over 1000 years ago. Once we were going to freeze, now we are going to burn. Use the cheapest and most reliable power, coal, gas, nuclear.
anthropogenic climate change is a full-blown lie. It's total bullshit. There is no empirical evidence to justify at all. It is a gaslighting operation by The corrupted paid for so-called scientists on the United Nations payroll.
We should stick with coal because "CO2-warming" has always, from the get-go, been extreme-left propaganda.

Absolutely correct on all points. UN controlled globalists politicians have no place in Australian governments.

Excelllent summary.
People with your experience and knowledge need to be heard more.
We currently have the worst government in living memory. They are destroying this country and hurting the people. They need a wake up call. Australia needs nuclear power. That is a definite no brainer.
No I disagree! Whitlam and his comrades were worse in the sense they started the rot.
But Albo and his dumb mate will make it a close finish by the time they're booted out
Can't agree. Australia's economy recovered after 1975 in a few years. The damage inflicted by the socialists this time will take a generation to repair. The last bit is too funny! 🤣 You're a brave man for mentioning it!

Absolute common sense Senator Babet. If only they would listen to you.
we should stick to coal and prepare to change over to nuclear in the future
coal employs Australians and we need to get rid of the ridiculous royalties and and chuck out this pathetic excuse for government whilst were at it
The Chinese are now building clean coal power stations. Even if Australia gave the Chinese the job of building them in Australia next to the existing ones, or suitable sites, and using the existing grid we would be way in front. well said
Please don't give up your honest work 🙏 Am praying for more people to listen to you and for other politicians to bravely stand strong.

I’ve said the same thing to people.
Exactly! I don't know why no one else has thought of that same thing.
