It was called Smellbourn back in the 1860's (?) when they had open sewers in the streets, then they built the world leading Werribie sewage treatment facility and piped all the sewage there, pumping clean water into Port Philip.

Maybe they need some similar social system today to get rid of all the crap?

I blame the weak left Victorian Liberals for much of this. Couldn't stand up to corrupt labor who've been in power for the better part of 20 years out of 25. Sadly, there are two groups keeping them in power(apart from the leftist liberals), and these are the very high number of migrants)Chinese & Indian) who predominantly vote labor along with the 'virtue signalling ' comfortably well off who buy electric cars & vote teals and even Greens to show how sanctimonious they are . They don't live in the real world, too many of them off to Europe or the snow these school holidays.

I lost my job and career as a RN during the Scamdemic.

I fought hard against the mandates, lockdowns … you name it.

I approached many institutions and I was told the same thing, you should take the vaccine because it’s a medical emergency, and they’re safe and effective.

I had no support at all.

I remember the fear mongering and subsequent capitulation. Victoria folded like a house of cards, it was easy, way too easy.

The state has rapidly deteriorated ever since.

I'm glad I voted for you Ralph, but I wish you were PM instead of the communist idiot who is leading our nation. My body is aging and my soul is craving for some common sense decision making for the sake of my grand and great grand kids. Surely there is a patriotic politician in Canberra with the balls to charge the Labour party with some crime bad enough for their dismissal of which there are probably many.

Melbourne, steadily destroyed by Labor/Greens & Woke Independents💩

Has become a dystopian woke playground for the extreme destructive leftists👎🏼

From the jewel of cultural Australia to a total embarrassment 👎🏼

This isn't just a Melbourne thing, this is global and all throughout western culture. I am at my peak trying to tolerate this new age politically correct geniuses telling us that the most important thing is or safety and health whilst they decay and destroy the fabric of our self worth. I say to hell with all that crap, it is blatantly obvious this political power surge is of no benefit to you or I.

It is a global happening. Could that be that most folks are passive, with heads in the sand with the notion it is not happening to me, not my business, you take care of your own problems. That leads to plain ignorance unaware of the goings -on around the world, nor around themselves. That gives a free hand to any opportunist to grab your liberty against you.

Correct and that explains why lately everything seems to be getting more complicated, more restricted and anything but convenient. Its by design so we don't have the time to ponder the elements and rise to challenge them. Yes ignorance is our biggest downfall in society. Just acknowledge pure evil is at play here with bad intentions for most of us.

Well said and well put. How about a new vehicle registration plate slogan in Victoria "Victoria - a shocking state (of affairs)" or "Victoria - the bankrupt state"

Votes please?

Victorians need to recognise that the so called "government" does not work FOR them. It works for ideologies espoused by foreign masters. When they realise that, they need to get together and take their State back or continue to suffer the Marxist boot heel upon their "Collective" necks.

So tragic that Dan allowed it to be destroyed, in fact encouraged it, so it can now be built up to the 2030 WEF planned cities. 50 years ago Melbourne was a safe, friendly, enjoyable journey for teenager coming from the country to visit the big smoke. Yes we did have immigrants, but they made the best coffee, food and brought grateful friendly faces and hard work, building it to a better place than it was. Now we have students flocking in from all over the world, taking up spaces in Unis, then graduating, taking the tech and health jobs and the housing, and eventually getting citizenship and bringing all their family in from overseas too. Labor loves immigrants for the votes, do they have to sign something to be allowed in saying they will vote Labor?

Stop finding fault with the commies. Its not them but us on the right wing that are to blame. Divided because our puffed up egos will not let us unite to form a real force to wash these degenerates down the sewer. Pauline Hanson, Clive Palmer, Gerard Rennick, Bob Katter, Alex Antic and you Ralph Babet, United Australia Party Senator for Victoria and to be fair others as well who have been elected and are there now. It is you place to lead and therefore the failure is jointly on your heads. I look with envy at how Donald J Trumps MAGA movement has changed not only the USA, BUT THE WHOLE WORLD. It is time to unite and you as our leaders must move to start a MAGA movement in Australia.

Senator Babet writes very well and articulates the situation that is now Melbourne and Victoria. The statement that “the people always get the government they deserve” is extremely true here because these politicians on both sides are voted back in election after election for decades now….
