Can’t agree more, we are led down the dangerous way of totalitarianism which we can see it happening in those so called socialism countries including the one I fled from decades ago !
Clearly the inherited British system is not only archaic but is BROKEN and unfit for purpose.
Whilstever that system exists, this nation will never advance, let alone reach a practical degree of independence.
It has been abundantly clear to me over the last 4 decades the real reasons BOTH governments are progressively disarming Australians in physical terms and in the laws they create.
Yes - it IS all about safety .... Theirs - Not Yours!
No system, no matter its degree of perfection, will hold up to an unethical population.
Criminals cannot follow rules, cannot think in consequences, cannot create or produce so seek to live by stealing the fruits of others' labour.
Trial by jury and the inherent power to nullify bad laws is cutting edge justice and has been so for centuries. That's why it has been undermined by those doing the bidding of tyrants.
I hadn't looked at it from that perspective, but needless to say - I substantially agree.
Criminals - and it appears also most legislators - seem to care only for themselves. If otherwise, why are most societies governed in one way or another? Communism, Capitalism - it's all the same few pulling the strings, and in each case, to their utmost to ensure the governed are impotent.
Trial by Jury cant deal with Constitutional Law, Statute Law but can in Common Law - the latter based on precedents such that "The Crown" is the benchmark, and to challenge that is simply prohibitive to the 'Ordinary Joe' which is why bad / unjust laws remain.
In the Original Australian Constitution as approved by Queen victoria, it clearly states that it cannot be altered in any way except by referendum.
In doing so, it said that parliaments cannot add to law and order except by referendum, as the Constitution and all that it embraces is ONE.
So all these willy nilly legislations and foreign treaties have not been approved by referendum.
All that was law and order in Colonial governments was to be included as law in constitutional laws and standards exactly as defined by the Queen. Anything else would require a referendum.
If these standards had been adhered to, we would not have 50,000 laws to follow with them increasing weekly.
On top of that ... what was not mentioned in the constitution as laws to follow is automatically our freedom rights ... but the government does not want you to know that, as it then means the government can easily reduce in size to only what is needed instead of jobs for the boys.
So we already have freedom of speech as an absolute, and have to uphold that in courts.
BUT ... they dissolved our Common Law Courts without Constitutional approval and installed the unlawful Admiralty British Maritime Law Courts which only ever had jurisdiction on the high seas and on trading ships not connected to a wharf. Once in port, they came under Common law.
So our law system in Australia is a fake farce of monumental dimensions, that has been used by government/politicians to destroy freedoms and rights of the citizens of Australian mankinds.
Senator this article is perfect. No wonder Labor wouldn't let you speak. They do not want to lose an open way to control the people. They are a Communist government who, at every opportunity, will act to withdraw more freedoms from us. They are looking for more control and are very quick to try and stop any criticism of themselves or their restrictive policies.
We must not let this happen at any cost. We must get rid of Labor as soon as we can. They are dangerous to our freedom
Thank you Senator Babet for your proposed amendment. Please God it will pass and become law to protect our God given rights that we take for granted. We are definitely on the road to socialism/communism and the majority of people don’t realise just what is happening. God bless you.
just pondering about what section 3 80a is or more precisely where it would fit in our constitution? Possibly it would be s51.40 (cth) - this is important placement in the structure will determine its operability. however, it must also contain remedy that is in case of a breach - what agency is responsible and what is the outcome... as you would be aware there is a continued process of ignoring constitutional provisions as there is mostly no " hard wired" remedy.
Your proposed amendment should also reference our Bill of Rights 1688/89 which is referenced in state legislation (imperial acts application act) however, notably absent from our Constitution.
During this process, conversations I had with former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser about a trip to China came to light through requested Freedom of Information (FOI) documents. My near-death experience in 1967, when I was almost executed as a spy, is a separate issue. However, the discussions I had with Mr Fraser in 1993 and 1994 concerning China were recorded, but the details about China and North Vietnam were redacted.

For many, Ben Roberts stands as a symbol of valor, an Australian soldier celebrated for his bravery. Yet, the truth behind his accolades tells a much grimmer story than the Victoria Cross he was awarded during the Afghanistan War. Now tarnished, this honor is overshadowed by serious charges of murder, as Roberts faces allegations of killing unarmed Afghan civilians. The intense media scrutiny serves as a reminder of the dark realities of a conflict steeped in lies and betrayal.
Consider the training soldiers undergo, where bureaucrats and psychologists convey that the enemy might not always wear a recognizable uniform. Instead, they could be dressed like peasants or farmers, making it the soldier's task to decide who is a friend today and a foe tomorrow. This mental burden is especially heavy after experiencing the fatigue of close combat with individuals who shift roles from attackers during the day to allies at night. How can one choose between vigilance and rest when the stakes are so high?
As the nation grapples with this morally complex figure, I feel compelled to share my own unsettling experience—not one of a lauded soldier but rather of a humble merchant seaman caught in the web of communist China's machinations. Aboard a cargo ship hauling 13,600 tons of Australian wheat, we believed we were offering life-saving aid to a desperate population. With the support of the Waterfront Unions and seamen, we facilitated this mission under the premise of goodwill; however, lurking beneath this surface was a dangerous conspiracy.
To my profound dismay, I later uncovered a troubling reality: a substantial portion of our cargo, which we had unloaded in communist China with the noble intention of humanitarian aid, was clandestinely rerouted to North Vietnam. During that period, North Vietnam stood as a staunch adversary, aggressively targeting Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. The wheat that we had endlessly hoped would relieve suffering and provide sustenance to the needy was now, in a cruel twist of fate, potentially nourishing soldiers who were intent on undermining our own troops and allies.
After narrowly escaping the perils of espionage, my fellow seamen and I returned to Australia aboard the empty Hopepeak, laden with our troubling revelations. We urgently urged our government to stop further shipments of wheat to China, recognizing the grave risks of our humanitarian efforts being turned against our own men. Yet, instead of being taken seriously, our warnings were dismissed as absurd, and we were labeled mutineers.
This raises critical questions: Who bears the true responsibility for this treacherous betrayal? Is it the corrupt bureaucrats who ignored our urgent appeals, perpetuating a cycle of bloodshed? Or the officials who, fully aware of their actions, continued to facilitate these shipments to China, knowingly strengthening the enemy?
There will be many citizens of Australia — and just as many in New Zealand and the USA — who, at my age of 82 in May 2026, look back on the Vietnam era and reach a blunt conclusion: the Australian bureaucrats who kept sending shipment after shipment of wheat to Communist China, fully aware that some of it was being forwarded to North Vietnam, committed a far greater betrayal than anything alleged against Ben Roberts VC. Ordinary people who lived through that period know exactly what that wheat meant. It nourished the very forces killing and maiming young Australians, New Zealanders, and Americans in the jungles of North Vietnam.
When several of us seamen returned home and warned the government — when we told the Commonwealth Police and pleaded with the bureaucrats in Canberra to stop trading with a nation feeding our enemy — we were dismissed as troublemakers, even branded mutineers. Yet the shipments continued. The bureaucrats kept the wheat flowing, knowing full well where part of it was ending up.
Many citizens today would say that this quiet, comfortable decision‑making in Parliament House — this willingness to keep nourishing an enemy during wartime — is a far worse moral failure than the split‑second decisions made by a soldier like Ben Roberts VC in a dirty, confusing war where the enemy often wore no uniform at all. He now faces the possibility of life in prison for actions taken in the chaos of combat, while those who kept feeding our enemy never faced a single consequence.
Mr. Smith, your journeys remind me of my own parent's experiences. To the very end they were prepared to spend any monies they could get their hands on to fight what can only be called 'cabal'. Stubborn, and even irresponsible. Keep on contributing to these Substack posts, for your own mental health and for others to learn.
By the way, we (the people) have now won against this 'cabal'. You probably have not noticed. Possibly distracted. I hope this is some consolation to you. Hang on for another year or two to see what has been done for us.
Couldnt agree more with Goeff he sums it up in a nutshell. I am 71 years old and simply cannot believe the stupidity & arrogance of our politicians. To force people to agree to think something totally against their will just because we are told we have to??? And it is all for our good?? Do they think we are totally stupid to fall for this garbage?? We are treated and spoken to like 4 year olds, and honestly I think most 4 year olds would see through it all. Govt is closely following WEF agenda like a mob of little obedient puppets and forcing the rest of us along.
It is truly a lazy way of governing by ignoring your own people and just following another agenda, I think it has actually been quite a shock in the recent fuel crisis for our government to actually have to get up off their comfy backsides and been forced to do some work, only because opposition and the people have constantly screamed out about it. Some in the media seem to be actually growing some at last.
YES, agree your Bill for free speech needs to be enacted ASAP! I'm sick of one sided media reporting by many media platforms. One in fact is Facebook who because of the Hate speech laws censor just about anything related to Islam or One Australia and all adhering to our laws and customs. Socialism (aka Communism) is alive and slowly eroding our standard of living and we need your Bill to enshrine free speech in law, now more than ever before. Thank you for your consistent and true support for all Australians.
It won't fly - the political system is owned (and you know it ). Believing that voting will change the paradigm is like believing in the easter bunny . You may be the voice crying in the wilderness , but only divine intervention can stop the looming storm .
I truly fear for Australia's future, I very much hope this change you propose does happen. The uniparty & greens are the biggest threat to Australia's future. Good luck Senator.

Seems like we have a lot to agree on Peter!
Which means? We are both wrong! (laugh)
Ahhhh! A sane and humble man. One who can laugh at himself.
I do that to get in early before others chip in!
Self flagellation!
Thank you Senator for all your work. It must seem daunting given the scale of your enemies but your voice is a powerful one!
Its actually disgusting that not all politicians stand up for freedom of speech. It tells me this parliament is a house full of self serving clowns.
Thank you for your effort serving the people👍

Damning stuff Alan. The world is full of very evil people and increasing. None will be held to account, because they have each other’s back.
Your post deserves a section of its own, not hidden as a reply.

Could who attend public meetings, events, shows, or join Facebook groups sign a waiver to declare a free speech zone protected from legal action?
I hate that the legal principle of “intent “ has been removed and replaced with an undefined person’s POTENTIAL to experience hurty feelings.
So, it will be interesting to see what the Uniparty does with this.
With the hate speech laws they have shown what they are.
They don't want a debate on this hmm?
Pray for them.
