100% right and the only way I see we get a change, an opposition, is by all of the minor parties coming together. You just explained very well the similarities in policy between Labor and Liberal and I see similarities between all the independent and minor parties and they are all great freedom loving, right leaning parties. If you could find a way of all coming together and put aside egos and minor differences then you will have the numbers and the strength to win. Yes we know there's lots of problems created by the the two major party's. People are raving on about the Dig ID but where were they when the Australian Business Number and the Tax file number came into vogue? We have been going down the totalitarian road for quite some time. The young ones are fixated with their Mob phones and live in a strange world all their own. Some have suggested that the minor party's should get together, form one party and thus be more able to take on the BIG TWO. Why doesn't this happen? Simple, there too any egos involved. They are not interested in really making a difference and sorting out our troubles. There's the People's First Party, One Nation, UAP, Family First. It's hard to keep up with them all. In the 1930's there were a bunch of minor party's as well and Robert Menzies was able to amalgamate them into the Liberal Party. So successful was he that he went on to be a long time Prime Minister. There is no one it appears to be of the caliber of Menzies --- love him or hate him, he dominated Australian politics for a long time. So, in the mean time we're in for the long haul and no worth while changes will happen for a long time this side of the Great Divide.
Jay, I'm more optimistic. I believe we will get our country back. We can't afford to do nothing as the leftist push is more totalitarian everyday. The power is not in the hands of the politicians, it's in our hands. We are the ones who have the real power. Ordinary Australians outnumber politicians by 40,000 to 1. That's our power. We just have to use it! And letting the minor parties know that we need them to work together to save this country is the best way to use our power at the moment.
I lived in beautiful Australia for 18 years from the mid ‘80s. It was evident even back then that politics was rigged.
